It’s Christmas in July!

Crafting Festive Cards with Spellbinders July 2024 Club Kits

Hey everyone! Stephanie here, and I’m excited to share with you some fantastic projects using Spellbinders’ July 2024 Club Kits. Today, we’re diving into the Glimmer Kit of the Month, the Stitching Die of the Month, the Embossing Folder of the Month, and the Wax Seal of the Month. Let’s create some magic together!

What Inspired These Cards:

When I saw these kits, I immediately thought of creating a variety of holiday cards that showcase different techniques. I love how versatile these products are – they’re perfect for Christmas, but many elements can be used year-round. I wanted to experiment with different color schemes and textures to create cards that feel festive but unique.

Materials List:

(Monthly kits were gifted to me for demonstration purposes. Affiliate links used at no cost to you.)

Now, let’s walk through creating these festive cards! You can follow along with my video, or with the instructions below.

Card 1: Glittery Bow on Gold

Step 1: Die cut the bow from Spellbinders glitter paper. (This paper is fantastic – the glitter doesn’t shed!)

Step 2: For contrast, cut the bow’s center from gold glitter paper.

Step 3: Prepare your card base by heat embossing it with gold embossing powder, using the snowflake embossing folder design.

Step 4: Glimmer foil your “Wishing you Joy” sentiment. (I always do extra when I have my Glimmer machine out – it’s great to have these on hand!)

Step 5: Assemble your card, layering the glittery bow and sentiment on the embossed gold background.

The gold embossing on white cardstock looks so elegant, and it pairs beautifully with the glittery bow!

Card 2: Blue Holly Christmas

Step 1: Use the Glimmer plate to foil the holly leaves and berries design.

Step 2: For an icy look, color the holly leaves and berries in shades of blue instead of traditional red and green.

Step 3: Prepare your card base as in Card 1, with blue cardstock and powder blue embossing powder.

Step 4: Arrange and adhere your blue holly elements and “Wishing you Joy” sentiment, using foam tape for dimension.

I love how this non-traditional color scheme gives the card a frosty, elegant feel!

Card 3: Candy Cane Bow

Step 1: Use the die-cut bow pieces you prepared earlier.

Step 2: Find a festive patterned paper for your background – I used a candy cane design from my stash.

Step 3: To make the bow stand out, cut an additional layer from white glitter cardstock to place behind it.

Step 4: Assemble your card, layering the bow on the patterned background.

Step 5: Add a sentiment from your stash and a few sequins for extra sparkle.

This card came together so quickly because I had bow pieces ready to go. It’s a great reminder of how prepping elements in advance can speed up your cardmaking!

Card 4: Wax Seal Snowfall

Step 1: Create a snowy effect on red cardstock by spraying watered-down white acrylic paint. (Tip: Spray from a distance for a fine mist effect!)

Step 2: Use your glimmer foil holly image, coloring the berries with Copic markers to match your red background.

Step 3: Add a ribbon with gold trim for extra festivity.

Step 4: Incorporate the wax seal snowflake, highlighting it with a silver paint pen.

Step 5: Finish with pearl bead accents and a glimmered sentiment.

This card combines so many beautiful elements – the wax seal adds such a special touch!

And there you have it – five festive cards using the Spellbinders July 2024 Club Kits! I hope this inspires you to get creative with your supplies. Remember, many of these elements can be used year-round, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
